That's a matter of interpretation.

The posts (including this one) refer to Bonfire's recent advertising posts and are modelled on them in their wording.

Bonfire had written:

Consent-based quoting has arrived in Bonfire!

The latest Bonfire Social release implements Mastodon's FEP-044f, enabling you to:
✨ Use boundaries to define who can quote your post, who must request first, or who cannot request at all.
✨ Quote — or request consent to quote — someone else’s post.
✨ Give or withdraw consent at any time.

A first step toward making quoting work smoothly and respectfully across the fediverse.

This may all work as long as you use Bonfire, Mastodon and other services that implement FEP-044f in the Mastodon style. With Hubzilla, I can also share posts without permission that have been set to ‘do not share’ on Mastodon or Bonfire.

With a Hubzilla channel, e.g. the ‘Personal’ role (the default), on the other hand, I specify that my post cannot be shared, and it cannot actually be shared. Not even by a Mastodon account. If I change the permission for a post from ‘Friends’ to ‘Public’, sharing is possible for everyone, including my connections. That's more than the other services offer with the new feature.

In my view, this is ‘consent-based quoting’. Therefore, there is more truth in this statement than in Bonfire's.

The fact that there is always some way to quote someone else's post (copy and paste, screenshot, etc.) should not be a consideration here. Anyone who posts publicly must accept such circumstances.

I would call it freedom to privately share with who you want :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyway, just wanted to make clear that Hubzilla does not support FEP-044f or implement an allow/disallow quote permission.

@Mario Vavti Yes, that would be a more appropriate name for it. But my intention was to replicate the original posts in some way. And Hubzilla has always been able to share. I deliberately didn't mention the FEP, especially since I consider the whole fuss about quote posts to be a rather paranoid disorder caused by Twitter.

But it's good that you clarified the FEP aspect again in your post.
