Unpopular opinion: in a network like the Fediverse, it is far more resilient and sustainable to negotiate a set of rules and adhere to them until they change than to negotiate them for every single action.

would you arrive at a set of rules by popular vote, or by the number of users that stick to those rules by choice of their platform per example?

then we'd have rules for a character limit and religiously adhered-to alt texts for pictures per example. i rather live without those...
