I seem to remember you made a post about a color e-reader. If this was you, can you tell me what model it was? How is it working for you?

After many, many years with an ancient Tolino, I bought the new Tolino Vision Color (inklusive Stylus) last autumn and am still thrilled. It wasn't so much the colours that mattered to me, but the improved software and the fact that I needed something new. The colours are not ‘crisp and bright’, but rather matt pastel, but it's an eReader and not a tablet, so it's completely ok for me.
But if you've been using an outdated reader for years, almost any new device is great
I can still recommend it.

Thanks for the tip about the Tolino Vision Color. I will check it out. I have indeed, as you say, been using an old e-reader and an old tablet for some years now, and they are getting ...slow.

hrmm... Interesting. I cannot find many places to purchase one of these. However, the photos of it look almost identical to the Kobo Libra Color:

Tolino is a European ecosystem, but I seem to remember reading that for the last few generations of devices they switched to Kobo hardware.

Yes, that's true of course. Tolino is the Kobo brand for german-speaking countries. The hardware and software are now identical on the new devices.

So far, the Kobo Libra Color looks like my best option for what it will be used for. There are no used ones for sale on eBay (just a few open-box new ones ).
I take this as a good sign. I have noticed that certain pieces of hardware that are poorly designed end up with hundreds of used ones for sale on eBay at any given moment. If try to avoid those.

My very first ebook reader was a used Kobo I bought on ebay, a long time ago. What I disliked about it intensely was that it required a Kobo account in order to even use it, even if you only wanted to download books from gutenberg.org. I did eventually find a hack that involved manipulating the SQLite database to trick the device into thinking you're logged in. You just had to keep it off the internet when you did that.

my old Kobo is losing the consistency of the "ink", and it's becoming difficult to read, too light the tint, is this normal? unfortunately in Italian I can't find information about this problem.

https://remarkable.com/store/remarkable-paper/pro
GNU/Linux inside.
I buy ebooks as EPUB from ebok.no , a Norwegian store, then download from the store to my phone.
On my phone is the reMarkable app, and I upload the ebook to my reMarkable account. The account syncs the ebook to the reMarkable Paper Pro tablet, the phone app, and the online reader for laptop browsing and reading.

Have you tried a graphic novel on it? I am curious how it does. I can send you one if you do not have one available

I have the reMarkable 2, which can display photos and is monochrome like the Kindle. I hope to get the reMarkable Pro myself for the colour experience, but we are fixing the bathroom which is expensive, so maybe in the Autumn or for Christmas.

I have not tried a graphic novel, no, but if the EPUB is good, I am sure it will work.

A lot of the ebook graphic novels use a format called CBR.

The devices look great! But they seem to be intended more as notebooks and for studies, don't they? In any case, I'm going to bookmark the site, too

I can't find a WebDAV option, so it doesn't exist, does it?

The reMarkable is both a distraction free excellent ebook reader and notebook.
Here is from one of the books I have on mine, the photo shows the author, Tom Egeland.

Lack of general WebDAV is on my short-list of pet peeves. It would be so great for privacy.
It does have Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive too, I think.

I'm still waiting for the
PineNote
to become more than a device aimed at developers; I have great hopes for it.

If we can persuade reMarkable (the company) to add a WebDAV client that would be great.
The sync tool inside the reMarkable is called rm-sync, see
https://developer.remarkable.com/documentation/xochitl
.
Some have success with
https://rclone.org/
There are already two interesting community projects, one about the API and one about a fake RM cloud you run yourself.
