I have quite different takes on this thread depending on the viewing context, but then I have limited permissions with the group which precede the recent troubles with rumbly, so it's hard to tell exactly what's going. Posting now from your channel page.

There are 2 posts of this, one in Streams and this one in my page.
That is the way things normally work for me, when I post to a group. If I set the post permissions to only the group, there will be one post in the group, and a copy on my page which is "direct mail" and can only be seen by me. I think that is equivalent to using "@!" with the group name.
This post of yours uses "!" with the group name, so the copy on your page is public.

- I just use the "lock" button when I'm writing a post, and select the group as the only recipient. For me, that's easier than remembering whether it's "!@" or @!" or "!*&$*%@" or whatever.
I'm curious to try connecting to a Lemmy group, but the one that I tried didn't accept my connection, so I don't know if it works.
